Subject: Need replacement O-ring for steam wand tip

I have an ECM Giotto, circa 2006, with the older-style (i.e. NOT no-burn) steam wand. It needs a new o-ring for where the tip meets the arm. Does anyone know what size/characteristics I need in a replacement? Also, any tips about where one might buy a replacement would be appreciated. Local hardware store or online espresso specialist?

Are you sure that you really need it? Mine went bad  a long time ago and I just assembled the arm without it and all is well but if you feel the need, it is only a simple O ring, they are widely available and easily bought from stores like linked to above.

Although I provided those links (because you wanted help), I personally don't like to have an o-ring between the tip and the wand, unless it's completely inside and hidden.  When it sticks out at all, there is a very difficult to clean nook on both sides of the ring that accumulates milk.  I find it much, much easier to keep clean without that o-ring.  Since I have another person using my precious baby every day, I find it frustrating to have caked-on, dried, burnt milk on the wand when I go to use it.  No o-ring means I can flush some steam into a rag and wipe off everything so it's sparkly clean, without any hassle.

Thanks emradguy and calblacksmith for your replies. Sorry I took a while to reply.

I tried calblacksmith's advice about steaming without the O-ring. I suppose it's a matter of preference, but I miss the more powerful jet of steam I got with the O-ring in place.

I looked at those links suggested by emradguy. I'm probably a good deal more dense than him, but I couldn't find any precise replacement. So I decided to whip out a scientific instrument: a ruler. My ruler tells me that the outer diameter of the threads in about 3/8". So looking at the AS568 O-ring standards would lead me to believe that a size 012 O-ring would do the trick. For anyone who might have a similar type of machine, does that sound reasonable?

Rocket, ECM = same people. I linked you to a site that sells the machine and parts. Sorry, was doing it from my phone (like now). You could call them, and I'm sure they'd be able to help you.
