I recently picked up a bottomless portafilter and was wondering what people are using to support it while tamping as I noticed my counter leaves dents on it and I'd like to keep it looking as nice as possible.

What ends up with dents?  The portafilter or the counter?  We have the cheapest 80's vintage counters and they don't dent when I tamp directly on them...

A hockey puck, preferably one with the Nashville Predators logo does a GREAT job!

A hockey puck is genius! I believe a Bruins one would give the best results though :)
