I have been buying green beans from several local distributors for some time now. I have yet to try Sweet Maria's green offerings. I live in eastern Canada so shipping charges are pretty hefty. 5lb lot incl shipping will run me approx. $13-$15lb although local distributors charge a lot more for some of their offerings. Are Sweet Maria’s offerings worth the extra money? Does anyone know of any good green distributors in North America?

Dean's Beans in MA and Roastmasters in New Haven, CT are at least on the right side of the US to ship to you in Ontario, and I've used both of them. I don't know if they ship up your way though, or if they would be any cheaper if they do. Neither have the huge range of consistently high quality coffees that I've had from SM though.
Your best bet might be to use the SM forums and here to find some very likely coffees that you will like from them and take a punt on a reasonably large quantity of them to keep shipping costs down. The 8lb samplers are a good idea if you don't know what you want, or you want to try a variety of beans alongside a safe option. I rarely order less than 10lb at a time from SM though.

Thx for the info. Unfortunately both are around the same cost for shipping. I can get the common SO coffees locally but SM really has the rare offerings. I am the only drinker in the house and I go through 1lb a month on my own so I am going to be buying a max lot of 10lb. Average price for a 10lb lot where I live is around $10 which isn't too bad. Still though 10lb is a lot for one drinker. Would do me for about 6 months.
