Hey guys maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong here. Isomac Macinino grinder will not adjust for fine or coarse grind. I have had the machine for about 2+yrs. Cleaned it every couple of months by grinding rice though it. Recently bought some dark roast Starbucks coffee and the machine seems to have a hard time grinding them. Have to shake the machine and jostle the grinds to get them going about once or twice every time I fill up a single shot porta-filter. I turn the machine off remove all beans and depress the lever button on the side to adjust the grinding dial and nothing happens. It feels like it is either glued stuck or something. It has adjusted in the past. I have also loosened the allen head adjusting screw on the top and nothing happens. Can somebody help me out on this one? I'm dead in the water right now.
I have not used that particular grinder but by chance did you try to adjust it without the grinder running? We preach very loudly here that the grinder MUST be running when making adjustments, esp when you are tightening the grind. Very often when you try to adjust the grind without the grinder running you can jam the upper and lower burrs with un or under ground coffee. This will often cause the burrs to lock together.
I also advise you to see if you can buy better coffee than Starbucks. For most of us here, they over roast their coffee nearly (and some feel into) to the charcoal stage where you taste noting but the roast.

Thanks for the comments Cal. I have tried adjusting while running and also not running. The grinding cones are clean at this point. I ran a cup of rice through the grinder and grinding is no problem. It is just the adjustment that I can't do anything with. I have attached a photo of the grinding area as they look now. The black plastic section on the top is removable by 3 screws underneath it. Unfortunately you have to adjust the holes by turning the grind adjustment wheel to line up the outer holes with the screws so that they may be removed. So it becomes a catch 22 on that issue.
As for the coffee selection I live in Sweden so the selection is very limited on the availability. Sometimes I can find Illy Cafe beans which do very well in this grinder.
