Folks, if you have the time, could I convince some brave souls take a look here, http://bit.ly/I9BkiM and give me your best guess at what's going on? I'm new to not only recording my pours but opening them up to the crowd. Be gentle.

A couple of notes: It's Decaf Super Tuscan, from The Roasterie, pulled on a Silvia using a triple basket. Convex temper.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Ouch. Sorry, folks. My bad. Shoulda known better than to leave it at G+. I'll YouTube it and post a full link later (assuming you're still interested).

I bit.ly'd the link because it was eight years long without shortening it, but your point about blind links appreciated.

It looked pretty good BUT, it would help if you pulled it into a marked glass container.  It would let us see the crema and volume poured. Your timing, 27 seconds, looks good.

There are so many factors to getting a great shot. Start with the coffee.  When was it roasted? What is the make-up of the blend (if possible to find out). What is the roast level? I don't do decafs so cannot comment on the
difference between regular and decaf pours.

A .1 scale and weighing my shots really helped me.

Looking closely at the pour, it seems to run faster on the right side so my first concern would be distribution or tamping off level.  It also is running a little fast for my taste but it is decaf.

Keep it up!

Thanks all. The beans are indeed decaf -- about a week off the roast. The taste was good, not great.

I sort of expected the decaf to pour fast, but all the different cones were giving me pause. The concerns about my tamp are probably spot on, Mitch.

Jim -- you're right. The suggestion to pour into a clear shot glass now seems sort of obvious. For comparison, I'll vid a regular double into a glass this weekend and see if my tamp improves.
