Okay, so they couldn't do the modification. They said there isn't enough metal between the handle and the basket to be able to cut the bottom off. The handle would simply break right off.

So, I guess this is the end of the Ellimatic venture. There's nothing else that can be done. Game over.

If you guys can find me a PF, bottomless, that fits the Ellimatic, buy it for me and ship it to me, then and only then will I even think about continuing this venture. Otherwise, I give up, period.

I don't have that kind of money to buy half an Oscar at MSRP price. That's around $800 plus shipping.

If the bottom were cut off, the handle would get cut off too. Most of the part that connects handle to basket is on the bottom of the basket, and if the bottom is cut off, the handle will get cut off too. There's no way around it.

You might not be able to take ALL the bottom off but 3/4 of it will have the same effect as taking all, at least on my naked PF, the coffee comes out the center of the basket the vast majority of the time so if the bottom was tapered from the center to allow some stock to remain, the result should be better than with the bottom.

Regardless, the machine will work just fine without the naked PF, there are many many thousand machines out there that have NEVER seen a naked Pf and they turn out great coffee.
