I let it cool down and adjusted it down a full turn.  Now the flushes are back to normal and I will find out tomorrow if my resent channeling problem goes away.  What are the signs of the pstat going out?

I leave Oscar on 24/7 so my adjustments are for the machine when it is fully stabilized.. When left on for a long time everything on the machine is much hotter then when letting it warm up for an hour or two, for example the reservoir water temp is around 122f. When I first started playing with adjusting the pstat it took days to find a setting that I liked.

The Sirai has 3 electrical connections you can use. The terminals begin to get a build up of carbon and I had two different types of failures, 1st my connection stayed closed and the boiler kept heating until the pressure valve opened, 2nd connection failed by staying open and the boiler would not heat ( a bang on the side of the machine would get it working but eventually I moved to the third connection and  ordered a new pstat). Talking with Jason, a tech at Chris', really felt mt Sirai was defective and it has been awhile since replacing with no problems like before.

I have left it on all weekend before and this has not happened.  So, I can try another electrical connection inside the pstat and see if it is more stable?

For the cost of a Pstat should I just replace it with a pid?

You could move the wires to the next connection, you could also try and clean up the carbon deposits with some fine grit emery cloth. A new connection can't hurt. Jason at Chris' actually thought my Sirai was faulty, it is a commercial Pstat and should have lasted much longer then mine did.

You could. If you will keep Oscar for a long time and can do the work you would not ever have to deal with a pstat or the snap sound it makes opening and closing. Adjustments between personal use and party use are just a matter of raising the temp on the pid. I don't know much about pids but I believe the dead band of on and off is much tighter using one so less temp swing in the boiler.

It seems like it starts acting hot at about 8 hours, at 4 hours it seemed fine.   I feel sure I left it on a full weekend but it may have been so early on that I did not notice how hot it was.  I will open the pstat and take a look at it.

I don't see my self changing machines until or unless I can't fix this one anymore or I hit the mega millions for half a billion this weekend.  I will just tinker with this one till I hit the lotto.  Then I will build a house with a real espresso bar....

Now that you mention it I will occasionally have to do a long flush after a long sit, not always but sometimes.

LOL. I pretty much know what machine I want next but feel no pressure to upgrade. Oscar has kept me in good espresso and the upgrade I make will be to a commercial HX, if it came along used at the right price I will jump on it but new might just have to wait until I remodel the kitchen when the kids get a bit older.

The speedster to me is the most beautiful machine and if I had this machine I would design my kitchen around it, lol. That machine should be in a spot where it can be viewed 360 degrees.

yes the speedster is cute but really too much money for me, and I am not good enough to taste the difference between a 2-3k machine and 6k machine.

The Jr is nice.  It looks good.  Happily, I am still happy with what I have.  Of course I have not been to the show yet, the shinys might blind me with their beauty.
