Yes, it can be done but to have one piece done, my guess is that it would be less expensive to buy a new one than to have that one plated.
The chrome is there to make it easy to clean and if it has not been cleaned, to keep any off taste from the brass from affecting the coffee. A PF that has been worn down to the brass, is a good candidate to make into a bottomless one.
In real life, my name is Wayne P.

Not yet. I'm still backflushing it and getting even more gunk out of it. Lots of brown stuff still in there. I don't think the original owner ever backflushed it.
Maybe. I'm thinking about taking Nuova Simonelli up on that offer of trading it in for 50% off a new Oscar. Might take me several months to save up, but I'd have a brand new Oscar to play with. And Oscar has less problems by comparison.
if u do decide on that, maybe u can sell the ellimatic to someone for like 500. it should end up being about the same price then and someone else will have a chance to appreciate the machine too instead of NS doing whatever they'll do with it.
also you can probably purchase it with no tax and free shipping from many of the retailers out there so that might actually end up saving you money as i'd bet NS would charge you shipping.
Well I have it listed in the Buy, Sell, Trade forum here, but for now I'll probably play with it a bit and see if I can pull some shots. It's still so badly gunked up. The threeway valve is full of caked-on coffee.
