Subject: Kitchen Cart or Kitchen Island Reccomendations

So I am relocating and will not have the generous amount of counter space I used to.  Because of this, I am going to need to purchase a kitchen cart.  Also I will no longer be able to plumb in my machine... So I would like to use a flojet and also plumb my machine out.  So basically I need to fit a couple 5 gallon jugs underneath the cart.  Does anyone have some good recommendations of different carts.  Or does anyone know of a good place to find them?  Thanks

This is the cart I have:

I have a 'review' of it in Chapter 87 on my website.

Through the link above it is currently $200 + delivery charges. Be aware that it is HEAVY in the box (153 pounds!!!) and it takes two or maybe three or so hours to assemble.

The two cabinets (one on each side) are about 13" x 18" x 28" without the shelf installed (the shelves are adjustable).

If you have the option, place it on the floor where it will be located without using the wheels. It will be more solid, particularly with the weight of the water in it.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to contact me personally.

We're using this one, which has worked out pretty well.  I'll emphasize what Randy said, it's mondo heavy, esp w/ the granite top. I'm pretty sure you could put a 5 gallon bucket in the side cabinets, but I'd have to try/measure it to be sure. One of those square things cooking oil comes in might be better, if you could get one that hadn't been used.

From our looking (6 months ago) store selection seems to be very limited.  We kind of had to order-and-pray, but it worked out alright.

I got an E-Mail stating that J.C. penny has free shipping this weekend for the holiday. You might want to take a look to see what it might save on a cart. Depending on your budget and needs, I don't think you can find a better deal than that Texas cart. When I compared, similar carts of that size were from 50% to 100% more.

I built my own cart but many people don't want to do anything like that - it's just easy to customize when you build it from scratch.  Here is another that you might consider:

JC Penney Outlet - Kitchen Island $129.99 plus shipping

There are less expensive options but most wouldn't hold more than one 5 gallon jug or they are open under the countertop.  JC Penney does have the free shipping as already mentioned which is great - it doesn't mention excluding furniture in the fine print but excludes truck/freight delivery so that could be something to watch for if you try to use it and it doesn't work.

Thanks for everyones suggestions.  I do have the capabilities to create a custom concrete counter top for a kitchen cart, with an insert for a drop box and everything.  But I don't have the tools, knowledge, or skills to create the base and actually make it look halfway decent.  If anyone has anymore keep em coming!

Do you have one of those "naked furniture" places near you, where you paint or put a coat of polyurethane on it yourself?  We got a really nice computer desk that was less expensive and better quality than we could find locally, and all we did was put a couple of coats of polyurethane on it.
