does anybody know if the crema master filter can be removed/replaced  with a normal filter basket, or if a regular filter basket is available & where. I don't know the size of the filter, but it as not 58mm.

Thanks: Chris

I don't know if this will apply to your Briel machine or not but I have the Briel Lido model and I recently ordered the Solis non-pressurized filter basket from Aabree Coffee.

It fit the Lido perfectly.  It's nice being in the 'real world' requiring a good grind and tamp now....great improvement in the experience of espresso making and taste!

Read a briel review on the consumer review forum that may be of assistance to you -- a briel owner had simply removed the crema disc from the portafilter and was very happy.  Go to consumer reviews and click on the "b" -- the briel reviews pop up.

I replaced mine from a Chamonix Briel with the Solis (53mm)...fit perfectly...unfortunatly, the rest of thing crashed!

Thats great news, I like the machine ($47.00 us makes it easy to like, auctions can be a good thing)  & the attatched grinder seems to mate well with it. But the pressurised portafilter leaves something to de desired.

Thanks for you help
