As Stefano is saying, 3 types of colors., & that piece is a red broken bit of a red O - ring.

On one of my posts I talked about different types of O - ring materials (different application, but O-rings are used in steam wands, etc) & their ratings & pics there too: "Re: Leaking safety valve"
