There is a huge potential as a starter DB, I truly hope the next version is markedly better than the first one, for everyones sake, we NEED affordable starter rank gear that performs and can live a few years.
Here is hoping that next year, the next one is what the first one should have been!

I hear you but as always, YMMV! At $1400, there are some excellent starter HX machines for sale, or step up the game money wise and go with a DB if that is better suited to your style. Either will make a great cup it just depends on what floats your boat.
My personal feeling is that there are too many issues with the current unit but we all pay our money and take our chances and live with what we have. I have received a few emails highlighting other issues with the machine that have not been widely discussed so behind the scenes not everything is perfect in BDB land.
As I said above, buy whatever you like, know as much as possible about ANY PURCHASE before you lay the money down regardless if it is a car, a stereo, a blender, an espresso machine or a house. We can help get great shots from nearly any machine and are happy to do so but please, if you have a boiler operated steam toy you bought at Goodwill for $5, just realize that such a machine is not able to deliver much quality in the shots ! :D
In real life, my name is Wayne P. Anything I post is personal opinion and is only worth as much as anyone else's personal opinion. YMMV!
Feed the newbs, starve the trolls and above all enjoy what you drink!

I have had numerous $2,000 well known brand machines with major issues within days of ownership, lemons can exist anywhere. Also have had issues with other E61 machines that I was able to repair myself with readily avail parts.
