Subject: Gaggia coffee original.  How to clean?

Hi, I just acquired a Gaggia coffee machine. Apparently this is the original coffee that has the three valve. I'm trying to take off the shower head and the thing behind it in order to properly clean it. But as you see in the pics once you remove the shower head there aren't the two bolts to remove the thing behind the shower head as in the newer gaggia coffee.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to clean? I'm planning to backflush & Descale. But I was hoping to clean that backpiece first

And just to be clear the picture shows the shower head piece already removed that's just the backpiece

What you are seeing there is the bottom of the boiler, and from the looks of it that boiler needs to come out and be manually descaled.

That model is called the Old White Coffee (with the Steam Knob on the Front), or, sometimes the FOWC....:-))))

Thanks SJM!  Do you have a step-by-step on how to remove the boiler?  I appreciate all your help

Nope, but someone asked for that at the Gaggia Group link I posted, and if you go there and follow it and/or ask your own questions, I'm sure you will get the answers you need.  I haven't had an OWC for years and years, so I would really just be guessing if I tried to talk you through it.

Good luck.
Susan
