Hi everyone, I was just given a nuova 3 group that was being tossed out for trash and is missing the control box and left steam wand, I do not know the history of the unitbut just looking at it the to said parts are gone, I saw a replacement control board  for 1600 and there is no way i would pay for that when I am already using a 2 group pavoni in great shape so do I part this unit out or try and get it running that is the question.
thx
jeff

Whatever you want to do. We don't know.
It's obvious that there's plenty wrong with it. The steam wand was likely parted out already to someone who needed one, or possibly destroyed prior to the powerboard being sold.
Why not avoid the dissappointment of finding out what else is wrong with it in the future, and decide it's trash, right now.  If you wanna make a couple bucks, strip it down, clean and package anything worth more than $20 used for online sale and take the remaining 50 pounds of mixed metal to a scrap dealer.

Or...  Get it up and running!    Sorry, I tease, but you weren't serious.

What is it going to do for you?

My main machines are single group machines, I have a two group and it gets used one weekend a year. All it needs is a good servicing and a paint job and it could go back to work in a coffee shop. So I may just sell it, it is of very limited value to me for that one weekend anyway, there is nothing happening that a single group can't do for me that would also cost less to run.

If you want a toy, go ahead if you have the money to spare. There is nothing that says it has to go back to what the factory made it to be. It does not have to be computer controlled, you could rig it up to be manually operated. Then again, what are you going to do with it? If the goal is to sell it, then you would not want to mod it away from stock. If it is a toy to play with, do what you want to it.

YMMV!

board I have been using a commercial 2 group la pavoni bar v2 for 10 years now and it once was trash aswell when the 2 guys at the business carrying it dropped it on the ground and the entire boiler body and chassis was tweaked  and then the business robbed parts from it and it sat outside for 2 months in a wheel barrel under the staircase before I picked it up and put it back together and have been using it in  my house making 2 to three lattes ect a day ever since, I just fix stuff up and enjoy seeing it back in order.

I would like to consider used  getting a control board if anyone has a source for parts.

If I fix this machine up then it could be a back up if my machine is down for repairs or I could sale it in running condition and get a single group unit ect.

does anyone have a stem wand or board for a program plus v they would consider letting go?
thanks
jeff

An espresso machine with a broken and expensive to replace control board might be a good candidate for a custom micro-controller (like an Arduino).  A good programmer could make it function better than the original.  For example, thermostatically controlled group heat and perfectly timed flushes based on temperatures.

That would be an interesting project.  We can make him stronger, better than the original million dollar espresso machine.
