Just to update everyone, I decided to purchase a Baratza Preciso grinder and the Lelit with PID from 1st Line. I've had these for a couple weeks now, and both are great. Keeping in mind I really didn't know how to pull a shot and had been previously using the Lavazza Blue pod espresso machine (so really nowhere to go but up), I'm really happy! I don't know if the shots I'm pulling are "right" or not but I've been using a timer and have them around 25 to 28 seconds. I mainly make cappuccinos and they are fantastic. But to be honest, even the shots I made that were way too fast or too slow were also really good compared to what I was drinking previously. Nothing has had to be thrown out which surprised me. The Lavazza machine has a steam wand but it's the pannarello kind and it made the foam very stiff like styrofoam. The steam wand on the Lelit is much better, the foam is really nice.

So thanks for all the help! Really enjoying the new setup and just stocked up with 20 pounds of green beans from Sweet Marias so I'm all set for a while.

awesome!  Thanks for the update.  If you haven't checked it out yet, I'd highly recommend reading the Easy Guide to Better Espresso at Home, on www.espressomyespresso.com It's article 12 under the "how to" section.
