If the plastic panels bother you, try living with an all-stainless machine like the Vibiemme Double. The thing makes great coffee but all that metal is nearly impossible to silence. They are not bad new, but take the case off and good luck getting it back the way it was to work quietly. The cup warmer and the drip tray cover both rattle to the point I had to use stick-on vinyl anti-slip dots and to silence the drip tray itself I put a .5" x 1" strip of the fuzzy half of velcro on each side. Love the machine. The case, not so much. So, be careful what you wish for! ;-)

Sylvan, one other option for you: there's a cottage industry making replacement GS/3 side panels. The glass versions I've seen are very nice, but make sure to check out Clive Coffee's custom Bubinga or Walnut panels - really striking if your coffee area matches up nicely.
Yeah, I agree, anything sitting next to a Speedster won't get much mind-share. Like a long-wheelbase 7-series next to a GTB/4 Daytona, no one pays any attention to the BMW's back-seat legroom.
