I have just replaced the pump on my ebr and decided to also clean the boiler and replace the gaslet (and group gasket.)

Unfortunately not I have put it all together the water does come out of the steam wand but not the brewhead. I unscrewed the filter below and also removed the nozzle to clean.
Still no luck. Is there a solenoid on this machine and what does it look like?

Would be great to have your thoughts.

Many thanks

Jaap

Alrighty. We can trust that the pump is capable of moving water at 10 Bar backpressure, because it is new.
We know the pump can move water, because you see it working with the steam valve open.

So. With the steam valve closed and the pump on, does it build up pressure then stall the pump? Like make the pump go a lot quieter?  OR. Does the pump run and the water go somewhere other than the brew-head?  Like over the OPV relief valve and back to the reservoir?

You'll want to remove the shower screen again and look at the bottom of the boiler up there above the brew-head.

Have a look at this picture

46, 45, 44 is Gland, Spring, Valvolina tip.

19 is pointing at where the relief might be adjustable if it is adjustable.

Hi SStones,

thank you for helping!! It is the first case:

If the steam wand is closed, the pump builds up pressure and then goes quiet. The water is not going elsewhere.

I had taken out 44,45 and 46 and cleaned them. perhaps they are too tight? I have no idea what mechanism decides when the brewhead starts to release water.

I suspect it is not a solenoid but simply pressure? In that case is the 44,45,46 combination the way to adjust this?

many thanks

Jaap

Don't screw 46 in so tight against the spring.  Find a good place where it holds back the water well enough that the brew head doesn't drip when running water over the steam valve...  But allows the brew head to flow with the steam valve closed.
