I was watching a video from CCS showing the precision shower screen in action with free flowing water from the group head. It is obvious that the precision screen has more even water flow, but can you tell the difference in day to day taste tests? Less channeling?

I'd be really interested to know, since it's only $30 with free shipping. Consider me sold if it makes any difference whatsoever. The spoiler on the trunk adds an extra 10HP, right?

25 HP. But the geek factor adds half a second to the ET in a 1/4 mile.

Gave me a good laugh there -- I was trying to imagine how my upcoming V2B would look with the LEDs on and a tall spoiler above the cup warmer... :-)

But seriously -- that's a great question, and I'd love to hear feedback from people who made the switch.

I think they call that a safety rail...... BAdda Bing!

I have an E61 but have never gone further than the stock screen from ECM, it has a difuser plate above it and I get a very even flow through the screen, I don't see how it could get much better than what I already have but if someone builds a better mousetrap........

I have also wondered even about routine changes of the regular grade shower screen.  Many sites recommend replacement along with the gasket yearly.

I just purchased a used Anita that Chris Coffee fully tuned up six months ago.  Brew head fully overhauled with new gaskets, replaced a bunch of small parts (ie p stat), but was surprised they reused the old shower screen.  after all, CCS is one place that does recommend on their site periodic replacement of the screen along with the gasket.  They could have easily installed a new one and put the cost on the bill.  I am guessing that the screen, as long as clean and in good condition, lasts a long time and is just fine.  Pure guessing.

Very curious  about real experiences.

I just clean and reinstall. It is amazing how fast they get clogged from coffee oils but it isn't anything that I could not clean with an old toothbrush and coffee cleaner..... yet :D

Newb confusion here.  I thought the once a month detergent backflush cleaned the screen -- plus a good soaking at the once a year E61 gasket change out.  Are you suggesting more?  as in pulling out the screen/gasket and soaking/scrubbing?

Yes, pull the screen/gasket about once a month and give everything inside the GH and the screen a good scrubbing.

I do a clean water flush, then clean water backflush after each session. I never backflush with detergent. if I feel the need for that, I disassemble the group and clean it properly.

For more detail on the E-61 group, see these two articles on my website:
How-To 18 - Simple Lubrication of the E-61 Group
How-To 19 - Overhauling and Lubricating the E-61 Group

In terms of shower screens, I use this one with the ridge around the circumference just above the screen. It makes removal a lot easier (the other style which I no longer use shown in the removal instructions).
