]I took a chance and won an auction for an Ariete Cafe Roma espresso machine with built-in grinder.  It's was only $40 and was advertised as not pumping water.  Well it turned out that it needed to be manually primed and I got the machine working and it's actually pretty decent.  It has a really hefty 58mm brass portafilter and I was shocked to find out that it also has a 3-way valve!  How cool is that for such a cheap machine!  Anyway I want to look inside and see how the machine is designed but here's where I am having a problem.  I removed all of the screws and I still cannot get the top off.  It's not budging near where the steam arm is.  I don't know if anyone has had any experience taking apart this machine but I thought I would ask.  How do I take off the steam arm or get the top of the machine taken off?  Here's a stock photo off the Ariete for reference.

I finally figured out how to take the steam arm off. You need to unscrew the whole arm clockwise.  This machine is pretty cool for $40!  Here's a quick video of the machine in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEUfCwW_niI

Hi,
I just purchased the same machine and canít get the top cover off too even after I pulled all the screws off. It get hung up on the steam control knob. If I understand your post correctly, the black knob should rotate clockwise to be removed or the entire knob, silver knob? Not the actual steam wand, correct? Do you have any photos to post so I can see? Any help would be great. Thanks!
