I have recently purchased a La Pavoni CFL. Slowly I was getting towards making decent shots, but a few days ago the machine decided to pump water out of the steam valve all the time (it doesn't make a difference if it is open or not). The water still comes out of the head, but it doesn't built up pressure anymore since it releases it through the steam valve. Also, I can't foam anymore, because steam only comes out at very low pressure. Any ideas? Thanks

Well, we already know the problem. It's possible that a constant leak over the steam-valve can be cured with a descaling. It could be calcium crudding up the valve-seat so that would be the first thing to try. If not, then disassemble the valve, clean the tip and the seat. If the tip is badly worn replace it, if the whole valve is worn and impossible to close, replace all of it. Or, if you never use the steamer, just plug it up and use the espresso machine.
