The shear size of this thread astounds me.  Breville has obviously sold a ton of these. Carry on....

I hate to sound like a lawyer, but it depends. Figure 19g for the 18g basket, if your coffee fits. Light vs dark roast makes a difference here.  I was frequently doing 13.3g doses in the '10g' basket with few issues. In fact, 10g seems too small of a dose. Some have done 14g doses.  Dose too much, and the expansion of the puck will push your PF off.. so use care.

Which brings me to ask- how much does that headspace matter between the puck & screen if it's larger than recommended? I dose 14g in a VST 15g basket and there's a LOT of space. The pucks are a little soggy coming out, but the pours are fine and taste good. I think the only side affect is the dry puck feature doesn't work as well as it would if there's a small dose in the basket.

ive spoke with vst, some technical thing on measurement from the shower screen, its like if you use a 15g, then you can does 14g to 16g. cant go lower than 14g or more than 16g. ive notice the lower the dose the puck is wet and the higher the puck is dry

Just got my naked portafilter in from Breville! Of course, I had to immediately make a test shot and record it.

The flash on my camera is a bit strong, so it looks blonder in the video than it was IRL. First run wasn't perfect -- a bit of spritzing, and maybe some other signs of uneven distribution? At any rate, I like this b/c it's easier to clean, and it doesn't suck all the heat out of the espresso on its way to the cup! I'm going to order some VST baskets soon and start experimenting more with those.

I know this isn't a direct answer to your question. The 18gm VST can fit more than 18gm depending on your roast level. You might be able to squeeze 20gm or close to that in an 18gm and I can tell you the 18gm fits. I just don't have the 20 to verify.

Good luck!
