Posted Sun Apr 21, 2013, 9:06am Subject: Saeco Odea Go. I turned the silver screw on grinder. Now what?
I bought a used Odea Go. It worked OK, but the steam setting wasn't working at all, I took it apart to diagnose the problem (bad steam control card due to corrosion) and when I had it apart, I noticed a semi-loose screw that was a different color from all the others. Rather than thinking "Hey--maybe there's a reason that this screw is silver instead of black" I proceeded to tighten it. Later, I found that this screw adjusts the grinder burrs.
I loosened it to where I thought it was originally, but now the grinder puts out VERY large chunks of bean. I know this is a self-adjusting grinder and I've been told that the burrs are factory set so they won't contact each other, but I'm wondering if this screw is what establishes the factory setting and if I have done something very bad here. How do I go about fixing this?
