At the top of this forum on espresso machines is a sticky thread containing several standard questions. If you take a moment to answer them, it would really help tremendously.

1)  What kind of drinks do you like/want to make?  (This will tell us what you need in terms of a machine's capabilities.)
Lattes, cappuccinos, and more I'm sure I can't pronounce but will try.. Trying to curb the wife's 7 dollar a day habit

2)  How many drinks, on average, do you see yourself needing to make at any one time? (This will tell us what you need in terms of a machine's ability to work continuously.)
One to two at a time on weekends and during the week one 3 to 4 hrs apart.....

3)  How many drinks, on average, do you see yourself making in any given week?  (This will tell us what you need in terms of a machine's durability.)
10 to 14
4)  Can you plumb a machine directly into the water supply, or do you want/need a pour over machine with its own reservoir?
Can plum but don't want to if I don't half to

5)  Do you have a 20-amp circuit available, or only a (standard) 15-amp circuit?
15amp

6)  What is your budget for a new machine?  Does that also include a grinder?  If not, what is your budget for a grinder?

1300 both

Id say your needs and budget isnt that far off this thread. And as far as I can say, itll still give you most bang for the buck... Word around here is that grinder is the most important thing in your setup, but read the post, itll clear things up.

Unless youre looking for used or refurbished. In that case I cant help you...

Either way remember that youll need to spend around $ 100 on acceories. Tamper, pitcher, knockbox, tampermat and the likes...

That is ofcourse, if youre looking for a semiautomatic. If your only goal is to save money on the missus' habbits, then maybe a superautomatic will be more desireable... The we reach the same problem as of used. I know nothing of it.

yes, definitely...unless the Silvia is a rusted out piece of junk.  Even if you had to replace some parts, it'll be worth it - if not merely for the resale value after you get it working.  In truth, you'd likely make money on either item after getting them in good working order...if you chose to sell them.

If you don't buy them, please let me know where they are available.
