My machine is only a year old, plus a few months.

This  morning,I had the machine on,  and after  the cooling flush and pulling shots ,  when it kicked into  its cycle,  it made two loud popping noises,  and the pressure gauge  on the  left ( bad espresso machine owner, the name escapes me) hopped a bit at the sound.

I turned the machine off for now,  husband and I  had to go to  work.  Going to check it out  tonight.

Obviously,  if anything is wrong,  we're calling  First  Line, I  just thought I'd see if anyone here had suggestions.

Possibly the boiler is underfilled and the element is exposed to air violently boiling the surface without the effective heat conductivity it needs to be submerged for...   The levelling probe would need to be cleaned to ensure proper fill level.

Worse, the element could be cracked allowing water into the insulation where it sputters, pops and bangs and makes the element worse and worse.  If so you can check the resistance through the element (Should be anywhere from 10 to 14 ohms resistance (Assuming 120Volts, 1200-1300 watts)).  And there should be no conductivity between either element connection and the boiler wall (At maximum ohmeter range).

If boiler fill level is okay and element is electrically normal, go ahead and turn it on and watch it heat up. See if it behaves normally.

why did you start the same thread over again?  You could have very easily posted something more to your first thread on this exact same topic and brought it back to the top of the list.
