Subject: Silvia V1 am I an idiot?

Hi All,

First day on the forum and help and advice needed please...

I own a Silvia V1 which up until a little home maintenance ran smoothly. I recently cleaned and serviced 'her' including a full descale and backflush with cleaner and blind portafilter. It all seemed to go very smoothly...

The problem I now have is that the I am able to make one (or maybe two) shots of espresso but then I cannot pull subsequent shots - the water will not pass through the portafilter there appears to be no pressure going through the brew group (the coffee eventually drips through at a pitiful rate). Instead all the built up pressure leads to the water ending up in the drip tray via the 3 way solenoid...

Is there an obvious fix for this?

Many thanks

Mike

Just a wild guess here but  there may be some scale or something that is preventing the 3way from sealing properly. The intermittent nature of the problem does not fit though.

Thanks for the replies....

I'll take it to a local repairer and see what can be done and if it's cost effective.

It did however, give me the perfect excuse to upgrade to a (very) shiny new HX machine :)

Definitely sounds like a clogged 3-way. There could be some crud like bits of scale in the 3-way. It is an easy disassembly procedure:
