Purchased the ECM Michelangelo DS 2GR used from a restaurant supply store. We probably didn't get a great deal, but the machine works and looks great. (Don't get me started on our first espresso machine from Craigslist.)

I'm co-launching a small restaurant with an espresso bar. We just submitted our plan review and had to include specs for the espresso machine. Since it was used, I had to scrape the internet in search of information. The inspector has specifically requested documentation that the machine is NSF certified. This is the best I could find for a spec sheet that confirms NSF certification.

Think that is what he is looking for?

In addition, I'm looking for a manual. Anyone have one they can share?

Thanks!

In that information it does state it conforms to NSF, but there also should be a label on the unit.

I don't see NSF on the machine. I do see UL 1026. Hmm..

Try this location for a ECM Manual.

You've got a picky inspector if he's sticking to the NSF on a espresso machine! Maybe scavenge one from some other piece of equipment and stick it on the bottom of the machine!

The history of the machine is that it was manufactured by ECM in Italy and sold in the USA under the Michaelango and ECM Sorrento name, which was distributed by Burgess Enterprises, now renamed Beverage Specialists. You can contact Don Pascal at 206-763-0255 ext 136.

It's a great machine, but worth getting a minor rebuild before you open. At a minimum:
Descale
Replace group head gaskets
Rebuild pre-infusion pistons
Rebuild pump
Check pump motor for operation, replace starting capacitor
Replace plastic drain tubes
Replace group head screens
Remove and clean/descale group head filter screens (located inside, top of group head)
Check and service push button pads. They can be rebuilt if necessary. A spare one is valuable!

Depending on the pump and motor, you are looking at around $500 plus parts to bring the machine up to a reliable level. Worth doing now,as once you open the doors, you will eventually do more than that a day in espressos sales, and cannot afford to be down!
