Hello all!
While researching the usual 'first time' machines, I have noticed that while there are a ton of Used/Refurbished Gaggias and Silvias, etc online and on ebay, you almost never (in comparison) see any Le'Lit machines for sale on the general secondary market.
I have personally never seen a LeLit, but was debating between the PID version and the Gaggia classic (which I would mod to PID).
Now, I can think of a few reasons why there is a lack of LeLit re-sells:
1- Not as many people buy them, so there are less 'in the wild' to be resold
2- The people who buy them love them and never feel the need to resell them
Most of the people on these boards seem to give the LeLit's high marks for the genre they occupy, so why do you think they rarely show up on ebay compared to other mainstream machines? This makes me worry that parts or support (online support) may not be as readily available as the robust Gaggia presence.
While I'm at it, I'll throw out the usual 'first time' buyer questions, with the hopes that someone can steer me between these two machines :-) I beg that we do not turn this into a Grinder debate. Someone is nice enough to be getting me a Precisio, and there is no changing that.
Standard Questions: --- What kind of drinks do you like/want to make? Espresso or Cappuccinos
--- How many drinks, on average, do you see yourself needing to make at ay one time? 1-2 at a time at most.
--- How many drinks, on average, do you see yourself making in any given week? probably 2 at a time, once a day, every other day
--- What is your budget for a new machine? $350-550
---Other notes: While I am not impatient, I would prefer a machine that heats up a tad bit faster. These both seem to fit that bill...

I can't compare as I have a Gaggia and not used LeLit. I think most of the SBDU machines are similar. You are talking PID controller which will help them all. The PID will show a stable temperature in say 5 minutes. So the PID thermostat is being controller to stable but the machines are probably about 15 - 20 minutes to be temperature stable.
As for described use, I think most of the entry SBDUs are again similar.
I would look at price, PID price and you can see resale value as you have looked at that. You can get recommendations for both on CG. I would stick with Classic in Gaggia. You can find cheaper but you will want the Classic features adjustable OPV and 3 way solenoid.
