I pretty much only use barware style cups. ACF, Nouva Point, D'Ancap, Inker, and also EPNWs brand. I require my espresso to be in those cups. I can get away with a cappa or latte in a different style cup, but I need the heavy, thick, rounded inside porcelain of italian barware for my espresso. Ok..
If you use a bottomless, pretty much every cup fits fine. Even my 8oz tulips fit under the bottomless.
I use a single spout when Im going spouted, and I actually use the longer one found on most machines, not the shorter one for the Duetto PFs. I do need to tip my cup under it slightly, but only some of them, and all my Demis fit fine, and by 8oz bowls fit fine too. ITs the big tulips which won't fit. And when I make Americano's into my Diner style mugs, I need to use the bottomless.
To be honest, when Im pulling shots with the bottomless, I prop the demi up on a triple basket. I thought the shorter distance would be an issue, but its not at all.
For me. YMMV.

SOOO I have been distraught at ACF closing down. Of the 4 others mentioned which do you find to be the most comparable to the ACF? I use the ACF classic shape and would love to find the next closest thing for weight, heat retention and stacking.
You know those people that want to tell you how to raise your kids but have none of their own? That is how i feel when someone with a kitchen appliance tells me how the merits or dis-merits of my machine or how to use it.
I've been wondering myself whether the 30-45 minute rule of thumb is just that (a rule of thumb) or really an accurate measure of proper warm up time. Apparently it's quite accurate for the original model Duetto but what about the 2 and 3. Were there any changes that would alter the heating profile since then or would this old study prove to be the same today?
I typically do a 45 - 60 min warm up but often wonder if a shot pulled in 20 or 30 minutes would be any different. Does the newer model heat up any faster? Rules of thumb are nice but I like objectivity even better :)

The group and the water path are what the warmup is for, those things did not change, that stuff just needs time to become thermally stable. Running water through the group after the boiler has reached temp can speed warming the group up quicker and I will do this when machine is cold and I want a shot soon, it is close enough and speed is desired. If I want to be playing with different temp settings, grind, dose I want a machine that I know is thermally stable to rule out temp as a variation.

Right on. If I am up early and in a rush I wrap the group with a tea towel for about 15 min while i shower, flush a little water through and wrap it up again for 10 or so more mins while I shave and dress. I can can get decent enough shots though i would not go making changes based on that scheme.

since I had one of eric's thermometers I got for one of my hx machines, I got bored the other day and wanted to check the offset on my duetto. temps were spot on.
