I did something very stupid.
I could have sworn that I read here or over at HB that it is simple to remove the "Caution: Hot Surface" sticker on the group head of my Rocket Cellini. Well, I tried and it was not easy. The post I read said that Goo Gone helps it come off clean. I tried that and it wasn't easy. Nothing worked until I used a rough sponge and now the sticker and residue is completely off. Unfortunately, the sponge was a little too rough for the nice police on my Rocket and now the group head is blemished and has minor scratches.
I already acknowledge that this was a stupid thing to do, so please don't condemn me too much. What I want to know is if there is any way to get the spotless polish back on the machine.

For others who have wondered how to remove the residual glue from these stickers, you just use corn oil and a soft cloth. I don't know how to fix the damage you've done. Any "fix" is likely to further damage the surface.

Like others have said, the chrome is very thin and once damaged, you are pretty much stuck as other people who have damaged their GH have found out. Sorry about that.
As a side note though, loading my ECM into my trunk for a coffee meet in L.A. I scuffed the sticker on my machine, it seems that a very soft plastic scraper, such as what is designed for removing price tags from items when changing the tags in a store, likely will do the job. I have a little "notch" in the bottom of my sticker but I do not feel the need to remove the rest.
Sorry about your situation.
