It's time for me to lube the lever on my DuettoII I purchased used. Seller is great and all, but I'm not sure if he did a lube for the machine after owning for about a year? I've done one backflush with cafeza and it's stiff, so it seems like it's time.
Question is, what to use? I've got some things I'm ready to pick up from EP so if there's is ok, I'll use that. I'd rather not pay shipping if I can help it so if there's one that Amazon Prime will work with, even better.
Want the right stuff though in the end, so what it takes is what it takes.

I think most people use Dow 111 and it's probably what EP sells (though I am blocked from viewing their site where I'm working today). I've always figured one could use Keg Lube too, but since I have both, I just use the Dow for my espresso machine parts and my Keg Lube for my beer equipment needs.
You know those people that want to tell you how to raise your kids but have none of their own? That is how i feel when someone with a kitchen appliance tells me how the merits or dis-merits of my machine or how to use it.

I use this stuff. works just as good as dow111,think I ordered it from parts guru a few years back. if I remember right it was $6 or $7 a tube and last forever.

Thanks kBoom. Thats exactly what EP is picturing, and thus the confirmation I was hoping for. I see the Dow elsewhere, but I'm about to order from EP so this is very helpful.

your welcome. dow was more expensive when I ordered this and would have to place a seperate order for it at a different company with extra shipping cost. Techs said this stuff works well. I got 2 tubes for under the price of the dow111

You said you did a backflush, and now its stiff.
Have you made coffee with it yet?
The internals of the E61 like to have coffee oils on them to work smoothly. The E61 group is the one group you actually CAN hurt by backflushing too frequently. However, that said, I backflush with detergent once a week, which is more frequently than most do. Anyway.
After you do a chemical backflush, that layer of coffee oils is removed from the internal workings. The lever action will not be very smooth at this point.
However, the smoothness will return as soon as you pull your post backflush garbage shot, and replace the oils for the internals.
Im not saying the lever never needs lube. Eventually, all E61 levers will need a lube job. However, after only a year, it shouldn't NEED it. My suggestion would be to do this. Pull the garbage shot and see the smoothness of the lever return. That will confirm all is well.
Then, for your piece of mind, do the lube job anyway. It will give you a picture view of how the lever works and you will be familair with the procedure so in a couple years, you know how to do it.
