I mean they came from a local brewing supply store and I have no idea how old they are. Most of my coffee comes from a roaster in Portland, called Panache.

Oh you order them from portland with a roastdate I imagine? Is that because there better than your local roaster? Do you prefer them over beans you roast at your home. Jus asking because I dont think I'm too happy with local roasters where im at.

Most of the time I like to roast my own, getting it from Coffee Bean Direct on Amazon. This time I chose a local shop because their beans are cheaper and I don't have to buy 5lbs at once. For some reason, their beans did not seem as fresh as CBD's, which sucks because I like to try new types.

I am a visual learner so my video showing the water dance is very clear to me. Water is spraying all over the group head then stops that and starts making a single smooth stream. That is just showing temp of the water at the group head. Super heated water has just been purged.
I am 99% sure your machine is now working as good if not better than the day it left the factory. So, just by knowing that I am going to say most of your problems are on this side of the portafilter.
The grinder is possibly an issue. You could have broken that plastic ring that holds the burr in. A stone or screw can do that rather than wreck the burrs, that ring gives. I believe it is an easy fix.
If the grinder is doing its job and you are getting some good shots mixed with the gushers than I am going out on a limb here and say it is the prep work that is not consistent. I know that is my issue also. I am pretty sure any bad shot is me. My machine is working like a top, my grinder is consistent and the 5lbs of redbird is consistent. So, I am the wild card variable.
Just relax and make a lot of coffee and it will get better over time.

No, I can all but confirm it's my grinder at this point. I can actually see the grinds are much less consistent and big flecks are mixed in with the finer espresso grains. I shouldn't hear a crunchy noise when I nutate. Did you hear that video I posted? The only question I have at this point is whether Kyle is around on Presidents Day. Ugh, another day with just Moka or Aeropress. There's no way it's the machine, it's been acting solid since I brought it home. I feel like I have a brand new Maserati and no gas to put in the tank :(

It was definitely the grinder; Oscar is performing perfectly, as expected. Baratza helped me out as usual. I'm back to to obscenely big cones and nice 28 sec pulls ^_^

Hello Helen,
I'm trying to finish gathering my parts list to make an order to mod my oscar soon.
My two questions come from the part numbers below.
I don't see this anywhere on the NS website or their parts list. Is that the correct part number? ***Found the Problem with this one...Had a missing 0 in part #) 03000202 musica cup
I see that you posted the part number in a different thread (not included in your most recent one with all other parts) and wondered if I needed it or not. 07300116 musica joint T 1/4 M-M-F 465
I'm really hoping to do the full mod without having to be idle for some time to order more parts. Thanks for any help.

Plindy ended up using a MMM T Joint part. Not the MMF that I bought for him to use. If you look at the musica you will see there is one that is MMM and he also used an 1/4 elbow and straight piece to make an L to hold the vacuum valve.. If I had to do it again I would probably leave off the cup and get the long one from Chriscoffee and put a hose on it. I was not sure there there enough room to use that part. But if you do it like we did I believe there is more than enough room.
