Plindy ended up using a MMM T Joint part. Not the MMF that I bought for him to use. If you look at the musica you will see there is one that is MMM and he also used an 1/4 elbow and straight piece to make an L to hold the vacuum valve.. If I had to do it again I would probably leave off the cup and get the long one from Chriscoffee and put a hose on it. I was not sure there there enough room to use that part. But if you do it like we did I believe there is more than enough room.

I would probably do it because it is worth it to have the timer option. We bought the NS one vacuum breaker and it was twice as much and I think the long one would be better.

No MMM is what I should have bought. I thought I had looked at the diagram correctly and that we needed MMF but I was wrong.

Yeah, the NS valve was pricey, to be sure, though it does look adorable perched on top like that. I have my Oscar on a programmable timer now and it's absolutely wonderful to know it's getting 9 hours of rest per day, instead of just staying on all the time. Plus, on school days it can turn off during the time I'm out, and be ready for me to brew my evening breve when I get home.

I believe you can do it. It takes time and looks worse than it is. Having the right tools and parts is the ticket. I believe I could have done it alone if I had had the right tools. It would have taken me 2x as long but I think I could have done it.

Thanks for the encouragement Helen. I'll probably order all the parts soon and then wait for the right moment to do the mods. I have a cousin who is extremely handy and hopefully he can assist me. He would probably do like plindy and just do it while i watch. lol

I think having help will make it easier but you should do it. It is not hard to work on and the worst part is your own fear. I know I was afraid to crack mine open but by myself, I have worked in it 3 times and I fixed it all 3 times with no issues and it worked fine after I did the work. (except ordering parts and having to buy some tools so some times it was open and not working for a few days while I waited for parts) So don't work on the only dinning table like I did.
This is not counting what Plindy did. So 4 times with his help.
