There's an ESE pod adapter available to use with the portafilter of the Rancilio Silvia and the Gaggia Classic. Both are SBDUs that can be used with regular filter baskets as well. Both are well below your maximum budget.
What's your reason for wanting a pod system? It's pre-gound coffee, so it's far from being fresh. Espresso quality will be meager.

Hi, welcome to the board. You have a nice budget and great espresso is in reach very easily but not with pods.
What is your reason for choosing to go that direction?
I'm sure that there may be $2K pod machines but I am not able to think of any. $800 on a grinder and the rest on a machine would be a dream setup for many here but pods are stale and even the best ones will give only SoSo espresso at best.

and Marques, here's a link for a pod adaptor for E61 machines (if you end up going that route). Of course, as you can see, I'm not the only one who thinks it's not worth the trade off.
