New member here but long time visitor.
I've had a Gaggia Coffee Deluxe that has served me well for a number of years. I was just descaling the other day and noticed the thermostat broke off the side of the boiler. In my haste to disassemble I accidentally pulled it off rather than disconnecting the wires. Anyone know the best (trustworthy and cheap) place to get parts?
and the part is 54, the brew stat. It does not show the temperature on that diagram and there are minor differences in some of the Gaggias of different ages. As long as it is a Gaggia brew tstat, it probably will not matter. If you search the net for Gaggia parts you will find several. Normally I would have done that, but if you search, you can look for price and proximity. Not really expensive. If you broke off the threads, that is the bigger problem. You will have to remove tha boiler to get the stud, I believe. They are soft, brass threads IIRC, and break fairly easily. Also do not have to be more that finger tight. Hopefully you can back out the stud, though there are a variety of "removers."
Of course you could look at a PID and replace the stat with a sensor :)

No. Threads are fine. Plastic part with the posts broke off cleanly. When I realized what I had done I unscrewed the rest of the part. It came out easily.
I found that site. $15 for the part and $9 for shipping isn't horrible. Just didn't know if they were reputable.

Okay, I got the new thermostat today and wanted to make sure I install it correctly. The leads are the same size and there doesn't appear to be a positive and negative connection. Does anyone know if it matters how I connect the leads?

You are running AC through it, and it is just an open or closed switch to break or complete the circuit. It does not matter,so have fun. By the way, only need to be finger tight with thermopaste. If you over tighten you can twist off the stud.
