Just to be sure, the steam switch is off, and the wand open. The steam switch also flips the 3 way.
If that fails, try taking off the shower screen and holding plate and then run water through the group, normal brew switch, and again, confirm that the steam switch was off.
When I have used steam, I run the machine with the steam valve open and steam switch off. With no obstruction, air goes out the steam wand, and then water. Some water comes out the group as water comes out the wand, not when air is out the wand. That is my prime and rids any airlock.
