I ordered my quick mill alexia today, should be here next week. I'm super excited, I actually didn't think I'd be this excited. I've had my gaggia classic for years and it has served me well, but I've always looked with envy at the e61 users on these forums.
I basically just needed more temp stability and consistency. The only issue I foresee is I didn't get a pid, but I understand temp surfing an e61 actually works with the single boiler vs and hx machine.
Just venting my excitement, can't wait til next Friday!

Just for semantics: a SBDU needs temperature surfing, a HX machine needs a cooling flush, no matter if an E61 brew head is involved or not. That's something completely different.

2) Think about driving a car. No, really think about it. Think about each and every thing you do when you are about to drive: -- take the key out of your pocket; -- unlock the door; -- open door; -- get in car; -- double-check seat is in correct position; -- optional: if not, move seat into correct position; etc., etc., etc.
3) Now, think about what you ACTUALLY think about when you get in the car and drive: -- get in; -- start car; -- go.
4) Re-read Dan Kehn's How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love HXswith the understanding that, with a little practice, it becomes like driving a car. That is, it may seem complicated, but it's something one does without much conscious thought -- you just walk up to the machine and DO IT!

Stick with her and get to know her. Complement often how beautiful she is. Make her laugh. Before you know it you will get a pid.

One or two(?) of the posters above seem a little confused - the Alexia is a SBDU machine, not a HX, albeit one with an e61 group with thermo-siphon. The HB review of it does say that it needs a warming flush to warm the group though, and that temperature surfing is also applicable.
On a vaguely related note, I've noticed that some of the sellers websites (Chris's mostly excluded here) aren't very good at identifying the type of a particular machine - it's quite hard to tell at a glance whether the machines are SBDU, HX, DB or something harder to pigeonhole.
Just be sure not to cry out Anita while Alexia is giving you a shot or never get PID out of her.
You know those people that want to tell you how to raise your kids but have none of their own? That is how i feel when someone with a kitchen appliance tells me how the merits or dis-merits of my machine or how to use it.
