The first problem to show up is water leakage. When I get up in the morning, I find that the area around the machine is covered with about a cup of water. It's on a stand with a channel that catches the water, so there's no doubt it's coming from the BDB. I don't know if it's a persistent leak or a warm-up leak, but either way it sucks.
So I'm going to take this piece of junk in for service, and if the repair cost is as high as I imagine it will be, it will be hitting the trash can and polluting a landfill shortly.

If it is what I think it is = known problem.
Resolved are part of the many mandatory software / hardware changes that the manufacturer has implemented.
The second problem is strange behavior when the machine comes out of standby mode. Instead of warming up until it reaches the set point, as it used to do, the temperature skyrockets all the way to 208, and temp display never stops blinking. The water in the brew boiler gets super-hot, sputtering like mad if I draw hot water from it.
Some say it gurgles = known problem.
Been under investigation for a while - I understand they may have the exact cause pin pointed.
PS Bubba. I will flick you a $100 for postage to Australia - > 12 months old and been used and tinkered with. I have a few mods I would love to implement :-)
Kinda sucks that the original BDB thread got locked and is now buried - in no small part to Buvilla Dude's crappy decorum on the forum defending the electronic vs mechanical advantage the BDB had over older, inferior technology from Italy. Too bad...
Still rocking along with my QM Silvano - just sayin'...
I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?
Who would have thought that a consumer grade machine built with plastic and heat sensitive electronics would have problems after a year? Someone should have warned the forum about this. Oh, wait....
