I realize this is a stupid question, but I thought I should ask here, I'd like some opinions.
When I had my Silvia, when I knocked out the puck, it left the portafilter nearly clean.
When I knock the puck out of the portafilter which came with my Duetto, I've been noticing a lot of leftover residue in the portafilter. So much so, I usually have to rinse it off in the sink.
I'm wondering if the portafilter baskets in the Silvia are teflon coated or something?
Do VST baskets knock out "Clean" pucks? Are they coated with an anti-stick material?

I use the VST 18g Ridgeless and my pucks sometimes slide right out and sometimes adhere to the bottom. It's a crapshoot, really, but I'm one of those crazy people who has four or five different roasts on hand and changes between them during the day, depending on how I'm feeling. I'm sure if I didn't have a Vario, this would be next to impossible.

I just got my Duetto on Monday, I have not tried the baskets that came with the machine, I love my HQs for updosed triples, 23-26g, doubles are all VST baskets but have only had triples since it arrived. I will do some doubles with VST and the stock double and see what I see. Triples have always come out dirty for me and use paper towel to wipe clean for consecutive pulls, at the end of a session I usually rinse the PF and basket at the sink to get oils off as well, the rinse seems to add time inbetween detergent soaks.
I report back with results from stock baskets on my machine.

I may get some crumbs that don't knock out, never more than, oh, 1/18 teaspoon, I simply wipe them out with a paper towel when drying the basket for the next shot. Not a big deal and I have never felt the need to wash the PF, regardless of how much stuck to the inside of the basket.
As for oils etc, I use a naked PF all the time and it is simple to clean the basket on both sides and then there isn't a bottom of a PF to clean so oil residue isn't a problem for me.

Likewise. Double leave a very little but some in my VST and trips leave more. At the end of the session i rinse run some water through the group and basket then wipe the basket with a tea towel. It clears the screen and gives some moister for wiping down the basket. Does it do it every time? If you dry the basket out before you dose maybe it does it less just guessing

similar experience here very little grounds left in the basket between shots, sometimes it's hard to tell whether that was the wet puck hitting the edge of the basket on its way out to the knockbox, or just residual after disposing the puck. However, I do rinse my pf and basket between shots (and I also used naked). I like to rinse, because it flushes the shower screen at the same time, then I dry out the basket with a small towel before prepping the next shot.

The luxury of plumbing in, in tank mode I am a water miser, rinse group, back flush, wipe, no water to spare for PF cleaning, and I can't stand the grounds and their reflection in the drip tray. I am in the beginning stages of the plumbing plan, I hate crawling into sink cabs to work.

I pulled a few shots with the 18g VST and I got just as much grind left behind as I do with the big triple HQs. The thing is in both types of baskets the grind is slightly sticking in the same area, as if I have a few weak spots in my drying of the basket technique.
