Thanks so much guys!

Grant, as Sly said, awesome pour.  Your vid helped me out a good bit.  My milk today came out much better this way.  So semblance of art just yet, but I can see the milk looks much better.  I'll keep at this way and I'm sure I'll have it down in no time.

Hey guys,

I've been stalking this thread for a long, long time... and I wanted to thank you all for the 840 posts. It really helped narrow the selection down, and helped me feel better about getting this model in particular!

Here's to the first leap into the rabbit hole.

For five years all I used in my Gaggia was bottled water...not Aquafina which is R/O water from what I understand
but stuff like Crystal Geyser. With this water softner I would like to use the right water. Whats your ideas? Thanks!!!

Not sure there is any one right answer, but here is some place to start.

FWIW, I used twice filtered water in mine.  I have a Kenmore fridge with a built in PUR filter which I use to then fill a Brita filter.  Works well to bring the TDS down to about 100-125 using both the strips and a digital meter.

I have rather hard tap water in my home as well.  Water from the tap measure around 245-270 on the meter, so it's obvious the filters are doing their job.

Simple question...I am sure it has been discussed on here but I really do not want to flip through 80+ pages to find.

I just got my machine last week and the provided plastic tamp is just not cutting it...does anyone have a good suggestion for a tamp on this machine.  I believe I need a 58mm tamp but not sure if I need a flat or curved.

Thanks

You're in luck sir!  :)

"SOLD! - 58mm Concept Art Zebra Wood Tamper"

I picked up an RB so I've had this guy for sale since.  Awesome 58mm flat bottom.  It's all but brand new as well.  I only used it for about a month.

To me its more of a tool,a way to get more experience from the journey into the bean itself. :)
