I am somewhat of a coffee noob, still. My wife has worked in a small coffee shop and she does most of the prep on our Delonghi BAR32 machine. However, this machine is very inconsistant. The being said, last week was a good solid week of delicious espresso. Now, though, not so much. Not sure why.
Long story short, we are looking into other methods, since we cannot afford a machine that is worthy of getting.
The Aeropress and Moka pot deliver espresso, while the Chemex delivers what is said to be an espresso-like coffee.
However, I need more information. We really enjoy rich, nutty flavours. I am pretty sure we enjoy espresso over coffee, as we had a French Press for over a year, and we didn't get coffee that tastes as good as what our cheap espresso machine produces.
So, what can I expect from these three devices? I included the Chemex simply to get more information on it and to see if it would be a good choice for us. We drink our espresso in soy latte form, sans sweeteners (unless it is crappy like it has been the past couple of days).

I'm a HUGE fan of Moka, myself. But if you get one, make sure it's stainless steel and not aluminum, like the original Bialetti. I use a $20 one from Ikea, called Radig, and it's fantastic. Aeropress is also delicious, but in my mind involves quite a lot of prep and external kit. I've never had Chemex, but I've heard it's great. However, Chemex coffee requires skill, practice, and technique the same as any manual pourover method. This translates into a lengthy morning coffee ritual to rival that of espresso.

I like Moka pots, I like Aeropress, I like Espresso, Moka pots, Aeropress, can not make Espresso. They will make strong coffee for sure but Espresso, it isn't.

approx 8-9 bar pressure is required to make espresso...neither moka pot or aeropress come anywhere close to that. as Wayne said, it's strong coffee, but NOT espresso.

To be fair though, the makers of Aeropress do claim that it makes espresso. And the wikipedia page for Moka pot does call it a "stove top espresso machine". On a forum like this, I think being strict with coffee-related definitions makes sense. In the wider world, the definition of espresso (or expresso) is more fluid.
