I have had the machine for 6 months now. My wife has a "milk" drink every day now, but the double shot I do comes up with no crema. And I did get it at one time, but it had the sickly sweet taste. I have the grinder up pretty much all the way. I am using Intellegentsia Black Cat organic beans. I would like to get back to having a plain shot myself. Now its just pretty much coffee. And the machine is great at frothing. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

1) How fresh (or not) are the beans?

2)  Dialing in a new espresso machine, a step by step guide

As Jason eluded to...beans older than about 2 weeks after roasting are usually stale, and once your coffee beans go stale, you can't get crema anymore.

May I ask, are you happy with the LelitQE and Lelit grinder? I was considering purchasing the same. Would you recommend it?
