I need some help. Upon starting my machine this afternoon. the power light came on, but there has been no pressure building or heating of the unit. Is there anything anyone here sees that i may try before bring in my machine for service (repair)? One more thing, water does come though the group head but it is cold.

Sounds like the heating element is not working.

Most common issue can be the
the safety thermostat, Heating element, pressurestat, and depends on your version of giotto the relay inside the control box going in order of more to less common,

Your machine SHOULD have a resettable safety thermostat,
sometimes they do work and prevent the HE from burning,
so try the reset button first,
however
you need to figure out what happened to the machine to overheat no matter what

To add to the previous suggestions...
Your safety thermostat, if your machine has it (Some years of Giottos don't) will be a little black circle on the top of your boiler. It has two wires connected to it and a red button in the middle.  If you feel the button click, it was triggered and you have just reset it.

If it isn't the safety (Or you don't have one) try banging the pressostat lightly with the plastic end of a screwdriver.  If this fixed it briefly, you will need to replace the pressostat soon.
And try banging the powerboard with the plastic end of a screwdriver. If this fixes it briefly, you will need to replace the powerboard soon, or solder a new relay onto the board.
If none of these things make a difference, you're going to want to check the voltage across various parts of the heating-circuit.

Thank you all for your help. It seems after ten years of use, it was the heating element. Thanks again.
