so oscar was acting a little weird after making a latte. i hit brew to rinse out the portafilter and the flow was low. ive had this happen intermittently. i decided to backflush since its been a while. it took longer than usual for the pump sound to go from regular to restricted--then all of a sudden i heard a couple pops that i've never heard before. then there was water leaking out of the machine. upon further investigation i saw its spitting water from the safety valve. i turned it off for a while and it still does it. i called nuova and they said the 2 way fill solenoid. i had an issue in the past where the fill sensor was dirty so i checked that. it was clean and the boiler was filled to the top. anyone else ever have this happen? or can anyone confirm that changing that solenoid is the fix? i dont want to go without a machine and buy unneccesary parts... the machine is maybe 5 years old. and to clarify this is where it's leaking from.

When I talked to NS the valve they told me was bad was my issue. I have not had your problem with mine so I can't tell you. I would just say I believe them from my experience with them.

a quick update. i removed the fill sensor on top of boiler, which incidentally was full. i cleaned off the probe for good measure (not dirty/scaled up) and emptied the boiler to what i thought was half. i then took the solenoid off, took it apart. looked clean--no debris or buildup. i put it back together and back on the machine. turned it on and hit brew. no leaks. let it warm up--looking good!! once warm i pulled steam and it was very wet. since pump didnt turn on when i turned on machine i assumed it was full-yes? and steam wet means boiler overfull, correct? i ran the steam and brew for a while and it seems to be steaming normal now. soooo let sleeping dogs lie or still buy part? if it happens again--new part. if not i guess i'm just lucky. fingers crossed for now.

another update just went to make a latte. frothed milk. went to pull shot--only got a dribble out. assumed i had it ground too fine. went to pull another shot with coarser grind and it happened again. safety valve went off. water running out of machine. now to order a new solenoid.

Johnny, wait a minute. First of all, you might want to start a new thread, rather than resurrecting old ones. Second, is your boiler safety valve actually expelling steam and hissing as the machine comes up to temperature? What's your issue currently?

Sorry about bumping old thread.
The pump comes on for about 4 seconds and then it expels from the safety valve. Also, the no water light comes on even though theirs water in the tank.
