I have an Old White Coffee Gaggia with the steam knob in front, and a portafilter that has a plastic retainer to hold the filter in when knocking the grounds-well I should say had the retainer- it broke in two places. Anyone know if a replacement can be had, or will a new PF handle with a spring filter retainer be in order? Will a new PF fit my OWCG? Any help appreciated!
Yes, a new Gaggia portafilter will fit fine, and will be a big improvement over the old aluminum one. You might consider getting a naked (bottomless) portafilter - one of the big advantages of the Gaggias is that the boiler heats up so rapidly, and if you don't have as much brass in the portafilter to heat up along with it, you can be ready to pull a shot sooner.

My plastic clip is also broken (on my backup machine)---tired of the hassle of avoiding burning myself when knocking out the puck.........wouldn't mind fabricating a repair if it is easy enough.......can you repost the photo of the stainless steel fix, as the photobucket images are not loading anymore?
