Just bought a bag of costco's seattle coffee and did some espresso shots, have anyone tried it themselves? It has a hint of watermelon or metallic flavor. I know it's not my espresso machine or the grinder giving this taste as other coffees like stumptown's hairbender tastes great.s
Using coffee from Costco is iffy at best. There are some Costco locations that roast but most do not and if your store does not roast, your chance of getting fresh coffee is very low.... to not a chance in Heck. YMMV!

Not the freshest, but pretty good: Kirkland Columbia. Has some chocolate note, not too acidic, full body. Good for about $6/lb. I buy the majority of the time and once in a while, I go for Redbird espresso blend. I used to go for Intelligentsia Blackcat before it tasted different; did they change the blend some 4-5 yrs ago?

Off topic, but I remember reading that they change blackcat periodically. I think it evolves, and beans change in taste from one year's crop to the next, so a blend that works one year may not work the next year.
My local Costco does roast on premises, and I bought some to break in my grinder. Thought it was OK, but too dark for my tastes. It's decent for the price.
I buy from Costco when I want to play with the machine to calibrate something or just work on some technique. Its cheap for freshly roasted. They pile the bags up so I was told to get a bag from the back and the bottom as they push the bags up as they roast. I only buy from the costco's with roasters (I have two nearby).
I don't really like the beans. The beans are really dark and harsh. I normally toss the shots but if I do drink them I make a latte or something that will really cut the flavor. That being said they are much much better than non-freshly roasted store bought whole beans imo.
