I found a thread on H-B that helps me understand a bit. According to this, Click Here (www.home-barista.com) an E61 group with the thermosyphon connected to a dedicated brew boiler is going to be cooler than the target operating temperature. An E61 connected to a thermosyphon running to a steam boiler will be warmer, but is probably still not quite up to temperature. Flushing to get the temperature right in the heat exchanger will also help bring the brew group to target temperature.

(not all the opinions in that thread may be shared by all persons. Years ago, Greg Scace published measurements of the temperature of an e61 grouphead connected to a thermosyphon running through a 1.3 bar boiler, and found it not to be "cool" at all:

He signs the post "my brain hurts." I think it was highly technical threads like that which led me toward purchase of a PID'd dual boiler machine. Not that it's capable of making better shots, not at all. I thought I might be capable of making better shots with it. Leveraging the technology to compensate for my lack of skill and knowledge, in other words.

Agreed there is still plenty left to obsess over even without worrying about brew temps as much, not that DB PID takes 100% of the thought out brew temps either. I am very interested to get a look at this new Rocket and it's price. It's just one more manufacture embracing the DB design for those inclined to that setup.

Will be interesting to see how this will be priced to compete with existing E61 dual boilers like the Alex Duetto II and Expobar Brewtus.

The price of the Rocket R58 Double Boiler machine will be $2699.  I have just posted some info about this machine:

Heat up time is supposed to be only 10 minutes for espresso and 6 minutes for steam. How realistic is that? It might work for the boilers themselves, but the E61 brew group will IMHO probably take the usual 30 to 45 minutes to properly heat up. Any different thoughts?
