So for kicks I removed the toothpick from one of the 2 holes on the Vetrano.   I will state fact, not opinion, that it is impossible to produce microfoam with both holes exposed.  It just blows a stupidly redicilous amount of steam into the milk and makes a huge mess!  And this happens no matter where / how you place the tip.  Kind of like trying to fill an 8oz glass of water from a firehose cranked to the max.   I am now comvinced this is impossible, not my poor technique.

Any other Vetrano owners have the same experience (not other HX owners)?

The only way I can even get close to producing microfoam is with one hole clogged.

if your problem is too much steam, just reduce the flow opening the tap partially, try with exposed steam arm and learn how to regulate steam flow, then get down to the job...
ciao, Pietro

And show is it possible with three holes? or with four?

Obviously I am not a Vetrano owner, so I'll no longer comment on producing microfoam, other than to point out the obvious:  seen any other threads from Vetrano owners about the difficult in making microfoam?

That said, there are several posts in multiple threads about people who use the toothpick-in-the-hole technique.

Cheers,
Jason

I finally got it!!!!!!  And yes, with 2 holes.

What did I do differently?

1)  I ALWAYS was making the wirlpool by placing the steam tip towards the outside edge of the pitcher, hitting the edge.  By moving inwarad and not hitting the edge, this helped tremendiously.

2)  Not sure if this contributed as much as above, but I went from 2% to whole milk.

Thanks for all your help guys.  And sorry to be such a stubborn pain ;-)
