Cool, ordered one and helped the state of California with its revenue problems,

For a long time, I was sure I'd get a naked PF for my BDB... but then it dawned on me... what for?  Perhaps uncharacteristically of most geeks, I don't buy kit just for the sake of it.  I have a naked PF for my old SBDU machine, which I still use, but it doesn't have pre-infusion or an OPV, so it slams the puck with the full might of the Ukla vibe pump.  So I use the naked the way they were intended to be used... to detect channeling.  Well, this BDB is so good, (and my shot preparation so careful), that I don't think I have a channeling problem.  Further, "espresso porn" videos and pictures have been around for so long now, that getting a naked PF just for that, seems kind of passé.  So I don't know.  I'm thinking of passing on this one.  I wish the BDB came with one, or the choice of a naked over a regular... but what's done is done.  $79.99 still in my pocket... for now.  Any reasons I have not touched on, why I should get a naked?

I guess it's a personal preference like anything else really.

Myself, If there was only one PF left in the world for my machine, I'd drill the bottom out of it.

I like how the bottomless fits in the portafilter forks, I like tapping it on the counter to compact my dose and I like knowing instantly how the extraction is going each time in my shot mirror.

Infuse until full saturation, or infuse until first appearance of coffee? How tight is the cone? These are all pluses to me.

The naked partafilter has arrived in Canada, but they only have 20 of them. The part# is BREBEA058NP and retail price is 94.99$ (more that the USA... why?), plus applicable taxes and shipping. In order  to place an order call Breville at 1-855-683-3535 (choose the option ‘for all other enquiries’) during our regular business hours.

Cool, looking forward to it.

Just to let you all know, the BES900 Naked PF is available for purchase directly through Breville USA website. Here's the link to the product page:

$79.99 + tax and shipping

Please note, the finish on the actual product is far superior to the product in the pics as this was a prototype & shot in my kitchen........better images to follow, but I figured geeks on this thread want the PF first, pretty pics later ;-))

Cheers, Phil

Just bought one from Amazon for 1079.99.  I have it paired with a Baratza Vario that's been breaking in for about a week.  Looking forward to contributing to this thread.

Hello all!  I'm new here and hoping to be posting more in this thread soon.
Anyone have any thoughts on where I could pick up a BDB this weekend?  Anywhere between Mississauga-Kitchener-Burlington would be ideal.
