I got a blank basket for backflushing, hoping it would help unstick the solenoid on my Kitchenaid Proline machine, and water leaked all over the counter. I've been wondering if something else is going on with the machine because there is usually water under the drip tray when I empty it, and sometimes I find water on the counter that I don't think I spilled. I vaguely remember people having leaking troubles with the Proline on the Kitchenaid forums, but the forums are gone now. On the plus side I think it did help the solenoid. Does anyone have any idea what's causing the leaking water?

If the water poured out with good force during the backflush, then it is possible a hose popped off from the pressure (it was ready to do so, and this was the final straw, so to speak). Another possibility is that a gasket has failed. You can look in the machine to see if there is something obvious, or it will need to in for service... or become a paperweight or table lamp.. ;-)

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it! I can replace the group gasket, not sure about any other ones, I'll try to check the hoses. I've been wanting an HX machine for quite a while, hmmm....

Sorry to resurrect this old thread but I am having the same problem the OP had. My KitchenAid Pro Line is collecting water under the drip tray and also it sometimes leaks a bit of water onto the counter. The inside of the machine is in pristine condition and there is no obvious cause for the leaking water. I read of others having this same problem and there's another old thread on this site where someone said that they had an easy fix for this problem and that he posted the fix on KitchenAid's forum. Unfortunately, KitchenAid got rid of their forums a long time ago so I have no way of finding his post. Does anyone know how I can fix the leaking problem? Otherwise the machine is working perfectly.

I figured there must be some tube that's disconnected, if you can get the cover off to look. I wasn't sure how to get it off though. I've just been using mine for a couple of weeks in the summer for the local film festival, I volunteer in the warehouse, and it hasn't been leaking, have no idea why.

I think the problem is with the OPV overflow tube that drains into the water tank. If you take the water tank out and look underneath the overhang area you'll see a hole...that's where the overflow drips back into the water tank when you pull a shot or backflush. The problem is that the water tends to travel down the machine instead of dripping completely into the water tank. They should have made the overflow opening extend a bit further from the casing instead of having a hole that is flush with the metal casing. This causes the water to travel down behind the water tank and into the slots where the bottom of the water tank sits. The water then collects there and after pulling a few shots you'll wind up with a little puddle dripping over the side of the bottom of the machine and onto your countertop. I fixed this by taking same duct tape and creating a little flap that I then taped to the area right behind the OPV hole opening. I angled the "flap" towards the water tank and now the water exits the hole and drips down the flap directly into the tank and I no longer have water collecting under the tank area.
