Hey guys, real quick question.... I just unboxed my new lovely Gaggia Classic. Included with all the other accessories was a plastic hexagonal plate. What in the world is this piece for? I don't even want to venture a guess... but if its anything along the same level of quality as the included plastic tamper, it maybe finding its way to the trash real soon.
Included a photo of the part....
Thanks! brad
PS - I stole this photo from another site... but that site didn't say what in the world that thing is.

And, just in case the horse isn't yet dead...
It gets inserted in the drip tray, where it rests just under the metal grate.
Some think it's a splash barrier. Others of us know it's there to prevent knowledge of when the drip tray is full, in order to provide entertaining moments where you try to get a completely-full splash tray to the sink without splashing on your white yacht club pants.

Been there, done that.... (minus the yacht club pants). I punsish myself by drinking enough of the contents through a straw until it's managable to carry across the kitchen. Coincidentally, it's never happened again.
Some people are like slinkies. They're good for nothing but they will put a smile on your face when you push them down the stairs.

I noticed it fit in the drip tray.... Just thought that would be odd, metal grate with a plastic piece below it. At least it has a purpose... after looking at the plastic tamper i was thinking this thing may be a free cup plate or something cheesy like that. (And rest assure I already bought my real tamper.... I knew the plastic one was a joke.)
